I'm taking a social psychology course right now, and it's pretty interesting. Right now, we're covering the self and how it's influenced by society and what not. My conclusion from all this? People are losers. Yup, people are definitely losers. (This means that I'm a loser too, but I kinda already knew that.)

Let me explain, no, let me teach you about what I'm learning... I'm gonna divide this into a few segments throughout the next few weeks because I don't want to write that much. Here's today's lesson:

Lesson #1:

People have an implicit and an explicit self-esteem. The implicit is an automatic form, one of which we are not consciously aware. The explicit, you can imagine, is the opposite; so basically, it includes a person's conscious sense of self-esteem...yadda yadda yadda... Anyway, that's not the important part of the lesson, and I don't even know if I agree with all of this...

The point is that there are ways to measure the extent of your implicit self-esteem... Psychologists look at the name-letter effect and the birthday number effect... What all this means is that people tend to really like the letters in their names, ranking them higher than all the other letters in the alphabet, and they really like the numbers in their birth dates. They apparently do this implicitly because they're losers.

So I thought about my favorite letters and numbers, and lo and behold, my favorite letters came from my name and my favorite numbers from my birthday. I didn't really know why I liked these stupid characters, so I decided to think about it a little bit more. Here are the reasons why I like the letters in my name:

The letter "A" is probably my favorite letter in the alphabet. It is the first letter in the alphabet, after all. As the first of all letters, I reasoned that it must be the best.

The letter "L" is one that is just so pleasant to the human ear. It kinda "rolls" off your tongue... (Heh... If you think about it, the only letters that really "roll" of your tongue are the letters "R" and "L," both of which are letters in the word "roll.") La la la la... Sounds really nice, huh?

The letter "E" is easy. I'm not sure, but I think it's the most commonly used letter in the English language. If everyone uses it so much, it must be a good one...

The letter "X" is simply exceptional, one of a kind. It's literally the X-factor in my name...

Yeah, I'm pretty lame. But I'm sure you're lame, too. At least I have reasons why I prefer the letters in my name over all the others...
